Thank you to all the people who entered. Thank you to our judges, Jason Yadao and Audra Furuichi, who had the unenviable task of picking the winners amid such an immense showing of talent. Let's give a great big mahalo to sponsors, the Friends of Liliha Public Library, Jason Yadao, Kawaii Kon, and Sakura America. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Liliha Public Library is able to recognize amazing drawing talent in our local young adults.

Excellent variety of characters and expressions. Love that take on a classic with local themes. Composition is great and complexity draws you in to study it more.
First Place, Grades 6-7: Nicole Nguyen for "Bleach in Hawaii."
Love the original take on Bleach with the characters in a local setting. Great sense of place and creative touches to make it their own.

Love the variety of characters, expressions and styles!
First Place, Grades 11-12: Chery Wong for "Folding Cranes."
Personal style shines through. Excellent use of watercolor. Delicate line work that stands out. Every time you look at it, you notice something new.
Honorable Mention, Grades 6-7: Jasmine Wong for "Finish Line."
Love that there is a sense of story and drama. Great feel for action. Great technical skill drawing with subtle shading depth and good composition.
Honorable Mention, Grades 8-10: Marin Yoshino for "Miimii Works."
Simple but invokes sweetness. The simple interaction between the 2 characters, and the background choice, make the overall piece hold together better for me.
Honorable Mention, Grades 8-10: Joelle Takayama for "On the Roof."
This piece is all feeling (for me). Nice gradations. Very Cute and personable.
Honorable Mention, Grades 11-12: Kimberly Ing for "Fairytale Tea Party."
Very cute composition. Love that there is so much going on. Nice use of color suits the overall feel of the scene.
